Nani stood in front of reporters on Friday and said something that sounds almost radical in trailer-obsessed Telugu cinema right now: there won't be one. Not for The Paradise, not before its September 24 release.

"I think there won't be a trailer for Paradise," the actor said at a press meet, as reported by India Today. He didn't pretend to love the call. "Even though I personally don't like it and really want to cut a good trailer, the entire team collectively made a decision," he added, according to the same account carried by Free Press Journal.

Telugu360 frames the decision differently, quoting Nani as saying the team didn't want to take the audience for granted and would rather put four or five days of trailer-cutting time into polishing the final film instead. Either way, the outcome is the same. Paradise goes in cold.

Pan-India or not, depends who you ask

Here's where the reporting splits. Nani himself told the press meet that Paradise isn't a pan-India film, full stop. "Telugu is definitely our prime target, and I hope audiences in other languages also watch Paradise and enjoy it equally," he said, per Free Press Journal. That's a deliberate walking-back of the pan-India tag that gets slapped on every big Telugu release now, fairly or not.

Telugu360, though, describes Paradise as headed for a pan-Indian release outright, and names Kayadu Lohar as the leading lady. Free Press Journal's cast breakdown looks different: Sonali Kulkarni and Raghav Juyal in principal roles, with Juyal playing the antagonist Vikram Maalik, and Keerthy Suresh dropping in for a special appearance in the song "Yeshanagula." Two reports, two different pictures of who's actually in this film. CutMirchi can't reconcile that gap from what's out there and neither claim should be taken as settled until the makers put out an official cast card.

What both accounts agree on: this is Nani's second film with director Srikanth Odela after Dasara, and the story is set in 1980s Secunderabad, following a marginalised community's fight against discrimination and for citizenship, with Nani's character rising as an unlikely leader of that fight. Sudhakar Cherukuri's SLV Cinemas is producing. Anirudh is on the background score, per Telugu360, and the final cut has been locked at 2 hours and 49 minutes, per Free Press Journal.

Nani has reportedly just wrapped shoot and is expected to step into promotions over the next couple of weeks, even with no trailer to build around. Songs already out are said to be performing well, which may be exactly why the team feels it can afford to skip the trailer step and let the film do the talking on September 24. Whether that confidence holds up will show in the first-day numbers, and in whether the makers ever clear up who's actually sharing the screen with Nani.
