The actress shared a clip from her hospital bed as Gerua played in the background, her second cheerful update since the spinal injury that pulled her out of Bali and into surgery in Mumbai.
Nushrratt Bharuccha is turning her hospital room into a small stage for good news, one Instagram post at a time.
On Monday, the actress shared a video from her hospital bed, hospital staff feeding her a meal around her, while "Gerua" from Dilwale played somewhere in the background. She wasn't shy about naming names. "And just like that, Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol bring a smile to my face," she wrote. "A reminder, things get better.... Little by little... They always do. Healing slowly, dreaming endlessly..."
It's her second public update in three days. On October 10, she'd posted an Instagram Story of an empty reclining wheelchair angled toward a sunset. The caption carried her trademark line, repurposed for the moment. "Been chasing sunsets forever, And just like that.. My view changed. But, Picture abhi baaki hai mere dost."
The backstory here is grimmer than the posts let on. Nushrratt suffered a spinal fracture in early October during what her team described as a work-cum-holiday trip to Bali. She was hospitalised locally, kept under observation, and told she'd need corrective spinal surgery.
Her team's statement at the time was carefully worded. "Nushrratt Bharuccha, who was in Bali for a work-cum-holiday trip, met with an unfortunate accident and suffered a fracture in her spine," it read, adding that getting her home to Mumbai for the surgery was the immediate priority. Shooting schedules and public commitments were put on hold. Fans and media were asked to back off and let her heal in peace.
That homecoming happened on October 2, via air ambulance. Airport visuals showed her on a stretcher, under medical supervision, flanked by people close to her, headed into treatment and rehab in her home city.
What actually happened in Bali is still unclear. Her representatives have stuck to the phrase "unfortunate accident" and haven't gone further than that. Online chatter trying to fill in the blanks hasn't been confirmed by anyone connected to her. One thing has been knocked down directly, though. Reports have clarified that claims doing the rounds about permanent damage to her mobility don't hold up, and that her medical team never issued any such prognosis.
Two posts, three days apart, both landing on the same note. Chasing sunsets, then smiling through a song. Whatever surgery and recovery look like from the inside, the outside messaging is deliberately upbeat.
No word yet on a surgery date or when she might be cleared to work again. For now, the updates keep coming, and so does the healing, little by little, as she put it herself.
