It started, as these things do now, with a Facebook post nobody can quite trace to a source. The claim: that R.S. Vimal's Ennu Ninte Moideen, the film that gave Prithviraj Sukumaran one of his most acclaimed roles, was originally meant to star Dileep and Kavya Madhavan, before the project somehow landed with Prithviraj and Parvathy instead.

Nobody connected to the film has confirmed any of this. It's been floating around for a couple of days, unattributed, the kind of internet rumour that gathers weight simply by being repeated. What's actually made news is what happened underneath it.

Comments piled up under the post trashing Kavya's acting outright, some going as far as saying she doesn't know how to perform at all. That's what pushed a Facebook user named Anu Chandra to write a rebuttal, and it's her post that's now doing the rounds instead of the original casting rumour.

Chandra's argument leans on something Prithviraj said about Kavya a while back. He'd called her the most underrated actress in the country, and, going by her post, added that Kavya was among the finest performers India had produced. His example wasn't even one of Kavya's bigger roles. He pointed to Vastavam, where her character barely got any screen time, and said that even in that small window she'd shown range most actors don't manage in a whole film. Chandra says Prithviraj also felt the parts Kavya got often didn't stretch her the way she deserved.

Her post goes further, running through Kavya's filmography as evidence: Vastavam, Gaddama, Perumazhakkalam, Lion, Meesha Madhavan, Classmates. Different registers in every one of them, Chandra argues, and better than what an anonymous comment section is currently crediting her with. Her line, more or less, is that she'll take the word of an actor who's actually worked opposite Kavya over strangers dismissing her in a comments thread.

Worth remembering here that none of this, the casting swap or the insults, comes with any confirmation from the film's team, from Prithviraj himself in the present day, or from Kavya. The quote being circulated is old and secondhand, filtered through someone's memory of reading it somewhere. Treat it as exactly that.

Kavya stepped back from acting after marrying Dileep and has largely stayed busy with business and family since. There's been no official word on a return to films, though it's clearly something a section of Malayalam audiences keeps hoping for every time her name resurfaces online, rumour or not.
