Paw Patrol 4 is confirmed for a 2029 release, with Cal Brunker back at the helm and $18 billion in merchandise sales fueling the franchise’s next move.
Paw Patrol 4 is officially in the works, with a planned 2029 theatrical release. The fourth feature film in the franchise has been greenlit by Spin Master, Paramount Animation, and Nickelodeon Movies, marking another step in the expansion of a global entertainment phenomenon that began on Nick Jr. In 2013.
Cal Brunker, who directed and co-wrote the previous three films — Paw Patrol: The Movie, The Mighty Movie, and The Dino Movie, is returning to helm the project, once again teaming up with writer Bob Barlen. No specific release window within 2029 has been announced, but the film is expected to arrive in theatres sometime that year.
The last entry, The Dino Movie, grossed $160.9 million globally in August 2026, bringing the franchise’s total box office earnings to $510 million across its first three films. Yet the real financial muscle lies beyond the screen. The Paw Patrol brand has generated $18 billion in lifetime retail sales, driven by consumer products handled by Skydance Products & Publishing and toy sales managed directly by Spin Master.
The franchise now spans over 190 territories and 33 languages, with more than 10 million subscribers on YouTube. Vishnu Athreya, EVP and President of Spin Master Entertainment, said the company is investing in the franchise to deliver more of what fans love, emphasizing plans to expand the universe through movies, series, specials, short-form video, and connected play.
Jennifer Dodge, President of Paramount Animation and a former leader at Spin Master, echoed that sentiment, calling the franchise a special part of families’ lives worldwide and expressing excitement about continuing the pups’ journey on the big screen. Brunker, reflecting on audience connections, said he and Barlen have crafted a new story they believe will resonate with viewers.
The film is being produced by Spin Master, with Paramount Animation handling distribution. As the franchise evolves, it remains rooted in its core, delivering high-octane rescue missions for preschoolers and their parents alike. The next mission begins in 2029.
