Pehla Pyaar Doosri Baar Opens At Rs 50 Lakh, Doubles Tum Mere Ho Start

Pinkvilla estimates show the fresh-faced romance leading the dull weekend while both films need sharp Saturday jumps to survive.

Pehla Pyaar Doosri Baar edged ahead of the other new Hindi release this Friday. Trade estimates tracked by Pinkvilla put its opening-day nett at roughly Rs 50 lakh. Tum Mere Ho, headlined by Gurmeet Choudhary and Isha Malviya, managed only Rs 25-30 lakh.

For a film with an entirely debutant cast, the Rs 50 lakh start is respectable. It sits in the same rom-com space as Luv Ranjan's Pyaar Ka Punchnama, which opened to Rs 94 lakh back in 2011. The comparison is loose — different era, different scale, but it gives a sense of the ceiling for this genre when word of mouth clicks.

Tum Mere Ho's number is weak by any measure. A known television face in Choudhary and a Bigg Boss contestant in Malviya usually guarantee a higher floor. The Rs 25-30 lakh band suggests the trailer didn't convert curiosity into footfalls.

Weekend trajectory now decides everything. Both films need 40-50 percent jumps on Saturday just to stabilise. Weekday holds will tell if audiences are actually watching or just sampling. Pinkvilla's disclaimer applies: these are early trade estimates, not audited figures.

No other major Hindi release competed for screens this week. The space was open. Neither film has grabbed it yet.
