The small Kannada drama opened under Rs 10 lakh on day one and has kept climbing through its second week, with trade watchers now eyeing a Rs 30 crore finish.
Twelve days in, Premada Oorali is still climbing. The Kannada film has grossed Rs 24.50 crore by its second Tuesday, according to figures reported by Pinkvilla, and the trajectory is the kind trade trackers love talking about: a film that started small and simply refused to slow down.
It opened to less than Rs 10 lakh on day one. That's not a typo. Most films with that kind of start quietly vanish by the weekend. Premada Oorali did the opposite. Word of mouth kicked in hard enough that the first week closed around Rs 6 crore, more than sixty times what it made on day one, with the final day of that week alone bringing in close to Rs 2 crore.
The second week has been even stronger. The film opened its second seven days with more than Rs 3 crore, and weekday numbers through the stretch have actually topped what it made on the second Friday, an unusual pattern that generally means the audience showing up isn't the one-time holiday crowd. It's people coming back, telling friends, going again.
By its 12th day, a Tuesday, Premada Oorali added around Rs 4 crore, pushing the second week's running total to Rs 18.50 crore in just five days. Add that to the first week's haul and you get the Rs 24.50 crore figure. Trade estimates now put the film on course to cross Rs 30 crore by the time its first two weeks wrap up.
The cast list is not exactly star-studded by mainstream Kannada or pan-India standards. Rangayana Raghu, Shree Raam, Tapaswini Poonaccha and Ramika Shivu lead it, and none of them are opening-weekend draws in the way a bigger name would be. Which makes the sustained run more interesting, not less. Nobody walked in expecting a hit on day one. The film built one.
The story has also travelled beyond Karnataka. The film released in Telugu as Premane Oorilo on October 2, giving it a second market to work with as the Kannada run keeps extending.
Trade figures of this kind, as always, come with the usual caveat: these are tracking estimates, not certified final numbers, and actual collections can move once official accounting comes in. But the shape of the trend, a quiet opening turning into a genuine word-of-mouth run across two full weeks, is hard to argue with.
Whether Premada Oorali actually hits that Rs 30 crore mark depends entirely on how the back half of week two holds up, particularly the weekend ahead. For a film that made under Rs 10 lakh on its first day, it's already well past where anyone expected it to land.
