Ram Gopal Varma has a new film in the works with Mohit Suri, and true to form, he's revealed almost nothing about it except how it might taste.

On Sunday, September 13, Varma posted a selfie with Suri on X and described their upcoming collaboration as a "LOVE DISH full of GANGSTER CURRY," adding that details would be "SERVED VERY VERY SOON." No title. No cast. No shoot date. Just a food metaphor and a promise.

That's usually all it takes with Varma. His name still carries the weight of Satya and Company, two films that more or less rewired how Hindi cinema shot gangsters and gunfights. Suri, meanwhile, is riding the biggest wave of his career off Saiyaara, the Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda romance that's been the year's most talked-about release.

So the internet did what it does. Comment sections filled up fast, with fans imagining what happens when Varma's underworld instincts collide with Suri's ear for a soundtrack.

One fan joked about Kallu Mama, Varma's Company-era character, crooning a version of the Saiyaara title track. Another asked Varma to give "GenZ and reels generation" a proper dose of Satya and Sarkar, arguing it's overdue. A third wanted the two directors to blend Varma's gangster grammar with Suri's "signature music magic" and let the mix speak for itself.

There was no shortage of one-liners either. "A love dish with a side of gangster? Take my money already," read one reply. Someone else wondered aloud whether Suri was quietly building toward something in the mould of Awarapan, his 2007 gangland drama that still has a cult following of its own.

What's actually being cooked remains genuinely unclear. Varma's post reads like a teaser for a teaser, and Suri hasn't put out a word of his own on the project so far. Nothing on casting, nothing on which studio might back it, nothing even confirming whether Suri directs or simply produces.

That vagueness hasn't dented the appetite. If anything, it's done the opposite. Varma is a filmmaker who thrives on unpredictability, and a director best known for slow-burn romantic dramas dabbling in gangster territory is exactly the kind of combination that gets people talking before a single frame exists.

For now, all anyone has is a selfie, a food metaphor and a vague promise of news to come. Whether that turns into an actual announcement, a title, or another social media tease remains to be seen. Varma did say soon.
