That milestone was achieved in about 21 days, a pace that shows the film’s staying power.
It’s not just holding ground. It’s climbing. The movie remained at #1 during its second week, even as Avengers: Endgame Encore continued to draw crowds. On its second Thursday, Resident Evil earned $1.78 million, down 46.2% from the previous Thursday, but still a healthy hold for a genre title in its second frame.
According to Box Office Mojo data, the film is now inches away from overtaking two major horror entries: Steven Spielberg’s Disclosure Day, which grossed $116.6 million domestically, and Scream 7, which collected $121.9 million. Both figures are expected to fall before the end of this weekend. Worldwide, the film stands at $206.4 million, with trade sources indicating it’s on track to become the highest-grossing entry in the franchise’s history and likely cross the $300 million mark globally.
