Resident Evil is on the verge of becoming Zach Cregger’s most successful film worldwide — and it’s about to out-earn a Terminator movie that starred Arnold Schwarzenegger. It’s now just $10 million away from surpassing the worldwide total of Terminator: Dark Fate, which collected $261.1 million during its run. That film, the sixth in the franchise, was directed by Tim Miller and featured Linda Hamilton and Schwarzenegger reprising their iconic roles. Despite the star power and legacy, it failed at the box office, with a production budget of $185 million, making it a major financial disappointment.

Resident Evil, meanwhile, has earned $130.2 million in North America alone, a first for any film in the horror franchise to cross the $100 million mark in the region. It remains stable at #2 in domestic rankings this weekend, behind Verity, which opened with $61.8 million worldwide. On Thursday, the film pulled in $1 million.

A drop of only 41.6% from the previous week, indicating strong staying power.
