The superstar kicks off the show's ninth and last season on JioHotstar, with reports suggesting he told Karan Johar he still wants a child of his own.
Salman Khan kicks off the ninth and final season of Koffee With Karan on Wednesday, and the promo already has people talking about more than just the usual banter.
The actor, 60, is the opening guest when the show drops on JioHotstar at 7 pm IST on October 14. According to Variety India, as reported by Free Press Journal, Karan Johar asked Salman during their sit-down whether he missed having a child of his own. Salman is said to have answered yes, and the conversation reportedly moved into why family matters to him for support and company as he gets older.
None of this has been confirmed by Salman or Karan directly. It comes from a single report citing Variety India, so treat the specifics as what's being reported rather than settled fact until the full episode airs.
What isn't in dispute is the timing. Salman has been linked to Romanian actress and singer Iulia Vantur since 2015, when the two were first spotted together in Mumbai. The rumours picked up steam after they started showing up at family functions together, including sister Arpita Khan Sharma's wedding back in November 2014. Neither has confirmed a relationship in all these years, so any talk of fatherhood naturally gets read through that lens, fair or not.
The promo itself leans into the show's signature cheek. Salman opens with a line about the show one day becoming "Coffee With Salman," which gets Karan laughing before he fires back asking if Salman is "still a virgin." Salman's response: "Control yaar brother, control." There's also a bit where Salman tells Karan not to leave the chair, a nod to Karan having hosted last season solo.
Karan apparently points out on camera that Salman seems calmer these days than the version of him audiences are used to. Salman's comeback, reportedly, is that all the advice he's handed out over the years has finally caught up with him and he's now trying to follow it himself. The two are also said to have gotten into paparazzi culture during the chat, a subject Salman has never been shy about.
For Koffee With Karan, this is the end of a run that's lasted 22 years. Season 9 marks the show's final season, and putting Salman in the opening chair is as big a send-off as Karan could have picked, given how rarely the actor sits for this kind of unscripted, personal conversation.
The episode streams on JioHotstar from Wednesday evening. Whether Salman actually says what's being reported, and how much of it he elaborates on once cameras are rolling for the full hour, will only be clear once viewers can watch it themselves.
