On Bigg Boss 20's Weekend Ka Vaar, Khan pushed for social media censorship and named AI-doctored voice clips as his latest target after last week's dig at paparazzi and trolls.
Salman Khan has moved on from paparazzi and body-shamers to a bigger target: artificial intelligence.
On the latest Weekend Ka Vaar episode of Bigg Boss 20, the host spent a chunk of his airtime on how AI tools are being used to fabricate videos and voices, and he wasn't gentle about it. "People misuse AI to create fake videos," he said on the show, adding that anyone spreading hatred through manipulated clips "should be put behind bars."
His specific worry is voice cloning. Khan explained how someone's AI-generated voice can be lifted and used to make it sound like they said something abusive or offensive, something they never actually uttered. "Kisi ne aapki AI voice leke dub karke kisi ko gaali bakk di," he said, pointing out that plenty of people forward these clips without ever checking if they're real.
That's the part that seems to bother him most. Not the tech itself, but how casually it spreads once it's made. He called for social media censorship and said lawmakers need to step in. "There has to be a law that should be passed, there has to be a censorship on social media," he said, promising to "take this up very seriously."
It's the second week running Khan has used his Weekend Ka Vaar platform to go after online conduct. Last week's target was paparazzi and trolls. This week it's synthetic media, a subject that's been creeping into Bollywood conversations all year as deepfakes of actors keep surfacing on Instagram and X.
A quieter eviction, a busier release slate
Away from the AI talk, the house itself lost a contestant. Isha Rikhi, wife of rapper Badshah, became the second name out of Bigg Boss 20 this season.
Khan, meanwhile, has plenty on his own plate outside the Bigg Boss set. He's got Maatrubhumi coming up alongside Chitrangda Singh, still without a firm 2026 release date beyond the year itself. And there's Monster, his action film with producer Dil Raju and director Vamshi Paidipally, which also has Nayanthara on board and is reportedly being aimed at an Eid 2027 release, though nothing on that front is locked in yet.
Whether Khan's push for an actual AI law goes anywhere is a different question. Calling for legislation on television is easy. Getting Parliament to act on deepfakes and doctored voice clips is a much longer road, and right now there's no bill on the table that answers what he's asking for. For now, it's a talking point on a reality show. What happens next depends on whether anyone with lawmaking power was watching.
