Samantha Ruth Prabhu has had her Seemantham, the traditional pre-baby ceremony common across Telugu and Tamil households, with husband Raj Nidimoru by her side. The actor is expecting their first child in December, and the pictures she shared this week give a rare look at how she's approaching the run-up to it.

The setup was outdoors, marigolds strung up everywhere, oil lamps lit around the space. Samantha wore a mustard and gold outfit with fresh flowers in her hair, the kind of look you'd associate with a South Indian function rather than a red carpet. Raj sat through the rituals alongside her. The guest list stayed small: designer Shilpa Reddy and stylist Neeraja Kona were among those from Samantha's inner circle who turned up.

What made the post stand out wasn't the styling. It was how much Samantha wrote about the ceremony itself. She said she'd always respected these traditions without necessarily grasping every layer of them, and that this time a priest, described as a Srividya Upaasaka, walked her through each step.

Two rituals got specific mention. The first, Kalaa Aavarana, also called Sri Kalpam, is tied to the Srividya school and is meant to honour what she described as the 94 kalas of Devi across the seven chakras of the expectant mother, using sacred water and mantras. The second involved the Sri Chakra Yantram, where after an abhishekam the mother-to-be sits at what's called the bindu, the central point said to represent creation itself and a link to Lalita Tripurasundari. Samantha also mentioned the chanting of the Devi Khadgamaala, describing it as a recitation that moves inward through the nine enclosures of the Sri Chakra, meant to invoke protection.

She called the whole experience "incredibly powerful," writing that she went in knowing almost nothing about the specifics and came out feeling, in her words, "deeply blessed and protected."
