An anonymous Reddit post claiming his mother confirmed a December nuptial with Medha Shankr went viral before either of them said a word.
It started, as most of these things do now, with an anonymous Reddit post. The user claimed to be close to Samay Raina's family and said they'd spoken to his mother, who apparently confirmed that the comedian and actress Medha Shankr were planning a December 2026 wedding. The same post claimed the two were vacationing together at the time and that Samay wanted to marry the 12th Fail actress "as soon as possible."
None of that has been verified. Neither Samay nor Medha has ever confirmed they're together, and nothing here has changed that. But the internet ran with it anyway, and by Sunday the story had enough legs that both of them felt compelled to say something.
Samay went first. He put up an Instagram story with the post itself, the one asking whether he'd marry Medha in December, and dropped the song "Jhooth Bole Kauwa Kaate" over it, which tells you roughly where his head was at. Then came the punchline. "December mai toh mera India tour hai @medhashankr sorry will have to postpone," he wrote, tagging her directly and using his own tour dates as the excuse to laugh the whole thing off.
Medha played along rather than push back. She reshared his story with a string of laughing emojis, and later put up a meme of her own with the caption, "Me scrolling past all the baseless wedding rumours like." Not a denial exactly. Not a confirmation either. Just two people treating a viral rumour the way you'd expect two people who've been through this before to treat it.
Where the speculation actually comes from
This isn't the first time Samay and Medha's names have been linked. Medha appeared on Season 2 of Samay's India's Got Latent, sharing panel duties with Varun Dhawan and Sharon Verma, and that stretch on the show is where a lot of the online chatter about their equation first picked up. The Reddit post simply gave that chatter a date and a headline.
What it didn't give was any actual source. The claim about Samay's mother is unverified, there's no confirmation the two were vacationing together, and the Reddit user's identity is, obviously, unknown. Bollywood Hungama and the Free Press Journal both reported the story as speculation that Samay and Medha have now addressed, not as settled fact.
So where does that leave things? Exactly where it started, minus the mystery. There's no wedding confirmed, no relationship confirmed, just two public figures who found a Reddit thread funny enough to riff on instead of ignore. Whether December brings a tour, a wedding, both or neither is still anyone's guess.
