Paul says he didn’t want to ‘look at queer lives from the outside’, no exoticism, no spectacle. He wanted them to be ordinary, flawed, human. Like everyone else. The film’s emotional core isn’t in its subject, but in how it’s lived: in the way Swarna avoids her mother’s gaze, in the way Driti hesitates before touching her hand in public.
