The set is empty. Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Love & War has wrapped its shoot, and according to Pinkvilla, the director gave the entire unit an emotional send-off to mark the occasion.

That's the news. Everything else is what it sets in motion.

With principal photography done, Bhansali moves into post-production, and the makers are now working toward a January 21, 2027 release, Pinkvilla reported. No studio has confirmed the date on record yet, so treat it as a target, not a lock. Release dates in this industry move more than actors' hairlines.

The film brings together Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal in what's being billed as a romantic action drama, the kind of scale Bhansali has built a career on. Expect the velvet-and-gold visual grammar, the sweeping camera, the works. Beyond Hindi, the film is also set for Tamil and Telugu versions, a distribution bet that tells you how big the makers think this one can travel.

For Bhansali, this is a return trip. He last directed Gangubai Kathiawadi in 2022, and Alia Bhatt was his lead there too. Now she's back for round two, joined this time by Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal, neither of whom has worked with the director before. Three of Bollywood's busiest names sharing a Bhansali frame is not a small thing, and the internet has been chewing on this pairing since the project was first announced.

What the three leads do next

None of them are short on work. Ranbir Kapoor's next big swing is Ramayana, Nitesh Tiwari's mythological adaptation produced by Namit Malhotra, where he plays Lord Rama opposite Yash as Ravana, Sai Pallavi as Sita and Ravi Dubey as Lakshmana. That's about as high-stakes a casting sheet as Indian cinema has assembled in a while.

Alia Bhatt was last seen in the YRF Spy Universe entry Alpha, alongside Sharvari, with Anil Kapoor and Bobby Deol in support. She moves next to Tumbbad 2, a franchise with a cult following that isn't used to sequels.

Vicky Kaushal, meanwhile, was last on screen in Chhaava opposite Rashmika Mandanna, a film that did the kind of business that keeps a phone ringing.

So Love & War now sits in the queue behind all of that, waiting on Bhansali's edit suite. January 21, 2027 is still more than a year out, which leaves plenty of room for a trailer drop, a teaser, and the inevitable arguments over first-look posters. The date on the calendar is the next thing to watch. Whether it holds is another matter entirely.
