Siddharth is trending for the wrong reasons this week, and the reason is a towel.
The actor has a segment in the anthology film Lust Stories 3, directed by Vishal Bhardwaj, in which he stars opposite his wife Aditi Rao Hydari. The film is out now, and clips from their portion, which includes bedroom scenes, have been circulating widely on social media since. According to Filmibeat Tamil, one moment in particular has become meme fodder: a scene where Siddharth, wrapped only in a towel, breaks into a bit of dancing.
That clip has been going around with side-by-side comparisons to Vadivelu's towel-dance scene from the Tamil film Thalainagaram, with users pairing the two on X and Instagram. The comments, as reported by Filmibeat Tamil, have not been kind. Some have asked what happened to an actor who was, in their words, doing perfectly fine before this. Others have used blunter language calling the scene outright bizarre. A recurring line among fans questioning the choice: why would someone with Siddharth's range need to sign up for this kind of material at all.
Worth remembering here that Siddharth's career has had its share of quiet stretches. He worked steadily across languages without a run of back-to-back hits pinned to his name, and it was Chithha a few years ago that properly put him back in the conversation. His friendship with Aditi Rao Hydari, which turned into a marriage, coincided with him building a second front in Bollywood, doing web series and films alongside his Tamil work. The first two Lust Stories anthologies had already built a reputation for their bedroom-heavy segments, so a third instalment leaning into similar territory isn't exactly a surprise on paper. What seems to have caught viewers off guard is seeing a Tamil star this recognisable, alongside his own wife, in scenes this frank, and reacting to it the way Tamil internet reacts to most things: with a meme and an old clip dug up for comparison.
Neither Siddharth nor Aditi Rao Hydari has responded to the trolling so far. Whether the noise dies down the way most social media pile-ons do, or whether it follows the segment into wider conversation about the anthology itself, depends largely on how much more of the film gets clipped and shared over the coming days.
