Sigma opens today — and the first reactions are already rolling in. The film, directed by Jason Sanjay, son of superstar Vijay, hits screens across Tamil Nadu with a quiet but unmistakable fanfare. The opening day crowd? Heavy on Vijay’s loyalists. The theatres filled not just with cinephiles, but with families who came to witness a legacy in motion, and a debut that wasn’t quite a revolution.

The film, starring Sandeep Kishan and composed by Tamizharasan, is backed by Lyca Productions. It was premiered at Chennai’s Kamala Theatre, where Jason’s mother Sangeetha and sister Sasha were present. That moment. The family gathering, became part of the narrative even before the credits rolled.

What audiences are saying? Mixed. Not scathing. Not glowing. Just… there. One viewer called it a ‘decent’ debut. Not great, not terrible, but the kind of film you’d watch once, especially if you’re in the mood for something familiar. Another compared it to Vai Raja Vai 2, noting the visuals were strong, drones, camera angles. But the story didn’t land. “It’s predictable,” said one. “You know what happens next.”

There’s praise for effort. “He tried without his dad’s support,” said a fan, clearly moved by the gesture. But the script? “Still needs work.” The consensus: this isn’t a turning point. It’s a step. A cautious one.

And then there’s the number no one’s talking about yet, box office. No official figures. But the tone is clear: no storm, no surge. Just a steady, low-key start. The real test? How long the word-of-mouth lasts.

For now, Sigma is out. And the conversation? Still breathing.
