Natalie Reynolds spent about USD 25,000 on a costume. Then she told the internet a dead man's soul lives in it. Small problem: the man in question, Mike Myers, is not dead.

The Kick streamer and influencer picked up the screen-used 'Cat in the Hat' suit worn by Myers in the 2003 film, buying it through Propstore's Los Angeles Summer 2026 auction, where it went under the hammer as Lot 76. Propstore had valued the piece between USD 12,000 and USD 24,000 before the gavel came down after eight bids. Reynolds ended up paying above the top estimate to take it home.

She wasted no time making it a bit.

On Instagram, Reynolds posed with the fur-covered rubber mask, the spandex bodysuit stamped "Mike Myers #1," the gloves, the red-and-white hat, grime and matted hair included. Her caption called it "one of the most haunted props in movie history" and promised followers a front-row seat to whatever comes next. Then came the real claim: that Myers' "soul is apparently trapped inside the costume," and that the person who sold it to her warned her never to look into its eyes.

Who that previous owner was, Reynolds hasn't said. What proof exists beyond her word, also nothing. In a night-time video she posted afterward, she says she can make out eyes staring through what should be empty sockets in the mask. Some of her followers pushed back in the comments, pointing out that the shape she's seeing is likely just the internal support structure that holds the head together. Costume construction, not haunting.

And the timeline works against her too. Myers turned up recently on Trevor Noah's World Cup watch party, alive, cracking jokes, and was asked point blank whether an Austin Powers 4 might happen. His answer: yes. Hard to have your soul trapped in a foam suit while also confirming a sequel on a chat show.

This isn't even the costume's first brush with online weirdness. Before Reynolds bought it, AI-generated clips of a Cat in the Hat figure wandering random neighbourhoods had already gone around, real enough looking that police in some areas had to step in and clarify the footage was fake.

Reynolds is known for prank videos and relationship content with her partner Zachary "Zack" Huelsman across TikTok, YouTube, Instagram and Kick, and she's built a real following doing it. Whether this is a bit for engagement or something she genuinely believes, she hasn't clarified, and there's no indication yet of what her next video with the costume will show. For now the suit sits in Los Angeles, allegedly haunted, definitely expensive, and Myers himself is off doing press for a franchise that's very much still alive.
