Prime Video has started revealing its cast for Rise & Fall Season 2, and the first four names are a mixed bag: actor and activist Swara Bhasker, BJP spokesperson Shehzaad Poonawalla, television star Karan Patel, and reality show veteran Priyanka Chahar Choudhary.

The promo, put out on Wednesday, confirms the show returns September 26, streaming daily at 12 PM IST. It's free to watch on MX Player, now folded into Prime Video, across phones, smart TVs, the Amazon Shopping App and Fire TV. Banijay Asia is producing again, with cricketer-turned-host Virender Sehwag back at the helm for what's billed as his streaming debut.

The format hasn't changed from the pitch that made season one a talking point: fifteen celebrities split into two camps, 'Rulers' who live in a penthouse and 'Workers' stuck in a basement, with positions flipping depending on how the game plays out over 42 days. Eleven more contestants are yet to be named.

Each of the four has a reason this feels like new territory. Priyanka Chahar Choudhary, who's done reality television before, said in a statement, "I've experienced reality television in different forms, but Rise & Fall Season 2 brings a whole new dimension to the game... I'm ready to step into the game, take on whatever position comes my way and see how far I can rise."

Swara Bhasker, known for saying exactly what she thinks, kept it short: "I've always been someone who wears her opinions on her sleeve, so entering a game like Rise & Fall Season 2 is going to be quite an experience... I'm excited to see how it all unfolds."

Karan Patel, stepping out of scripted television for the first time in years, framed it as a different kind of performance. "People have seen me play different characters and tell stories through television all these years, but Rise & Fall Season 2 gives me the chance to enter a completely different arena as myself," he said.

Shehzaad Poonawalla, arguably the most unexpected name on the list, leaned into the theatrics. Bollywood Bubble quoted him calling his own career "synonymous with rise and fall," and adding, on the lighter side, that he's "glad I don't have to pay rent for the next 6 weeks."

The promo itself has the four trading barbs, which is presumably the point. Whether a politician's spokesperson, a soap star, a reality-show regular and an outspoken actor can actually coexist under one roof for six weeks is the whole experiment. Season one built its buzz on exactly that kind of friction.

The remaining eleven contestants haven't been announced yet, and Prime Video is likely to drip-feed those names before the September 26 premiere. Expect the guessing game around who else is walking into that penthouse to run right up to launch day.
