The Housemaid sequel began shooting in Hoboken this week with Kirsten Dunst and Brittany Snow joining the cast ahead of a December 2027 release.
Cameras are rolling on The Housemaid's Secret, the follow-up to last year's surprise hit The Housemaid, and the first set photos are already out.
Sydney Sweeney and Michele Morrone were spotted filming in Hoboken, New Jersey on Wednesday afternoon, shooting what looked like an intimate scene between their characters. At one point Morrone leaned in and kissed Sweeney on the forehead, the kind of beat that tells you exactly how far this sequel is leaning into the Millie-Enzo dynamic that made the first film such a talking point. Between setups, Sweeney took a minute to pose for selfies with fans who'd gathered to watch.
Both actors are reprising their roles from the 2025 original. Sweeney is back as Millie Calloway, the housekeeper whose past kept unraveling in increasingly unhinged ways, and Morrone returns as Enzo. Paul Feig, who directed the first movie, is back behind the camera for the sequel too.
The new film adds some serious names to the cast. Kirsten Dunst, Brittany Snow, Paul Anthony Kelly and Stephen Kalyn have all signed on, according to Lionsgate, though it's not yet clear who plays what. Given how the first Housemaid handled its reveals, don't expect those details to leak early.
Lionsgate's official synopsis keeps things appropriately vague. Millie takes a new housekeeping job for a woman she's never actually allowed to see, and ends up uncovering something behind a locked door that goes darker than anything from her own past. If the first film taught us anything, it's that nobody in this franchise's households has a boring secret.
The Housemaid's Secret is set for a December 17, 2027 theatrical release, which puts well over a year between the shoot wrapping and audiences actually seeing it. That's a long runway for a movie built on a twisty thriller premise, and it gives plenty of time for leaks, reshoots, or a marketing campaign that slowly drip-feeds who's playing whom.
Earlier this month, Sweeney was already spotted having dinner with some of her new co-stars, suggesting cast chemistry was being built off-set well before day one of filming. Whether Dunst and Snow's characters end up tangled in Millie's new employer's secret, or running a separate thread entirely, is the kind of thing this franchise seems to enjoy keeping close to its chest.
For now, all anyone outside the production knows is what the cameras caught on a Hoboken street. The rest, true to form, stays locked behind that door until Lionsgate decides otherwise.
