Tahir Raj Bhasin opened up about Netflix’s new thriller Shaque: Don’t Trust Anyone, saying the series has sparked a wave of online chatter and face‑to‑face compliments. He noted that the show, shot last year in the hills of Chail and Shimla, finally emerged after a year of post‑production and is now feeding a hungry streaming crowd.
The actor admits his role started off as a textbook supportive husband to Parineeti Chopra’s Anvita, but by episode two the script flips the script. “Alok is a man of many shades,” Bhasin explains, adding that the character juggles half‑truths, personal choices and forces beyond his control. That blend of helplessness and agency, he says, is what makes the part compelling.
Playing someone who knows only part of the puzzle, Bhasin confesses, is a tightrope. He had to read the entire script in a single night and then keep his performance fresh for viewers who might binge‑watch or return for a second look. “The trick is to let the audience suspect you, but never hand them the answer,” he says, underscoring the show’s intent to stay mysterious on repeat viewings.
When asked about his chemistry with Chopra, the Delhi‑born actor smiles. Both hail from the same northern roots and share a Yash Raj Films debut, which meant they’d crossed paths long before Shaque. “Working with Parineeti felt like catching up with an old college mate – warm, bubbly and instantly comfortable,” he recalls.
Bhasin also touched on how he picks projects. Money takes a back seat. The story, the director’s vision and the character’s purpose are the real magnets. He credits his decade‑long journey, from a breakout in Mardaani to collaborations with directors like Rensil D’Silva, Nitesh Tiwari and Kabir Khan, for shaping that mindset.
Looking ahead, the actor can only confirm one upcoming film: Vikram Phadnis’ Pal Bhar Ke Liye. He hinted at “interesting scripts” on the horizon but kept details under wraps. As for the much‑rumoured third season of Yeh Kaali Kaali Aankhein, Bhasin says the status is still being ironed out, leaving fans to wait a little longer.
Shaque’s experimental storytelling – a mix of mysticism, surreal touches and a constantly shifting cast – appears to have paid off, at least in the eyes of early viewers. Whether the series can sustain that intrigue beyond the first binge remains to be seen, but Bhasin is confident the ensemble effort will keep fans guessing.
For now, the actor’s focus is on delivering a solid performance in Pal Bhar Ke Liye and staying ready for whatever the next Netflix mystery throws his way.
