The new track 'Cleveland!' comes with a lyric video stitched from actual road-trip footage of the couple, right down to Kelce's old high school.
Taylor Swift dropped the lyric video for "Cleveland!" on Friday, and it isn't the usual glossy visual treatment. It's home footage. Kelce's behind the wheel, Swift's filming from the passenger seat, and he clocks the camera and grins like a man who still can't quite believe his luck.
The song is one of four new tracks tacked onto The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore, and its whole premise is Kelce's childhood turf. The video cuts between a shopping strip, a tree-lined neighbourhood, and Cleveland Heights High School, where Kelce played football before Cincinnati and, eventually, the NFL.
The lyrics do the heavy lifting the visuals only hint at. "He already took me to Cleveland / And showed me The Heights, so hate all you like / This is the love of my life," Swift sings in the chorus, which is about as unsubtle as a chorus gets, and clearly the point. She name-checks the actual house too, singing about "that house with the porch" where Kelce grew up.
There's also a line that reads like a direct response to two-plus years of tabloid noise around the relationship. Swift doesn't dodge the scrutiny so much as shrug at it, declaring that out of everyone, she found her person. Read it as a rebuttal to every op-ed written about their romance since 2023, if you like. She seems to want you to.
The track appears to close on a wink at the wedding too. Toward the end, the lyric shifts to reference "wearing white," which fans have read as a callback to July 3, when the couple married at Madison Square Garden in New York after nearly three years together.
For anyone who's followed the timeline, the whole thing plays like a victory lap. Kelce first became a talking point in Swiftie circles after he admitted on his New Heights podcast that he'd tried to hand her his number on a friendship bracelet at an Eras Tour show in Kansas City. She didn't take it that night. Three years, one Super Bowl-adjacent courtship arc and a Madison Square Garden wedding later, he gets a whole song named after his hometown.
What's notable here isn't just the sentiment, it's the format. Swift has spent years writing about relationships in code, letting fans decode initials and easter eggs. "Cleveland!" skips the puzzle. Real footage, real street names, real high school. It's less a love song about a feeling and more a love song about an address.
The Encore's other three additions haven't had the same rollout treatment yet. Whether Swift gives them the same home-movie approach, or saves the archival footage for the bigger singles, is the next thing to watch for.
