Tobey Maguire didn’t just show up. He stood at the altar. And not as a guest. As the officiant. At his ex-wife Jennifer Meyer’s wedding to billionaire heir Geoff Ogunlesi, held over the weekend at the Four Seasons Resort Lanai in Hawaii. The ceremony, described as romantic and star-studded, saw Maguire — still in suit and tie, reading from a script, smiling as Meyer, 49, said ‘I do’ to her new husband. The image of him standing between two people he once called family has already gone viral. Not because it’s shocking. Because it’s so quietly, completely normal for them now.

The guest list read like a Hollywood wish list: Leonardo DiCaprio with Vittoria Ceretti, Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez, Courteney Cox, Kate Hudson and Danny Fujikawa, Rachel Zoe. All there to witness a moment that felt less like closure and more like continuity. Ruby, 19, and Otis, 17. Their two children, were part of the proceedings too. So was their newborn daughter, born in May, who joined the blended family this summer.

Meyer and Maguire split in 2016 after nine years of marriage, filed for divorce in 2020, and finally finalized their separation last month. Their divorce was bifurcated. Meaning some legal matters remain unresolved, but they’ve maintained a co-parenting relationship that, by all accounts, is functional, even tender. In a 2022 interview, Meyer called their breakup ‘beautiful,’ said she’d ‘do anything in the world’ for Maguire, and referred to him as her ‘brother.’ She still loves him, she said. Just not romantically.

Ogunlesi, 34, entered the picture in 2023. They made their red carpet debut in November, shared an engagement ring in August 2024, and welcomed their first child together earlier this year. The baby girl remains unnamed. But her presence at the wedding. Alongside Ruby and Otis, was a quiet signal: this isn’t a replacement. It’s an expansion.

And Maguire? He wasn’t just invited. He was asked to lead the vows. No one’s saying how that request came about. But the fact that he agreed. Without hesitation, without fanfare, says everything. This isn’t a reconciliation. It’s a kind of peace. A rare one.

Now, the real question: what happens when the next big life event comes around? Baby shower? College graduation? Another wedding? Who’ll stand at the front this time?
