Bhansali Productions released the image days after unveiling Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt's looks, keeping Kaushal's character details firmly under wraps.
Vicky Kaushal has a new face for Love & War, and it's nothing like the one fans just spent days dissecting.
Bhansali Productions put out a second poster on Instagram, and this time the actor is sitting in a pool, a bouquet in hand, looking about as far from broody as it gets. The first poster had him tense, guarded, all shadow and stare. This one is soft. Almost playful. Same film, same character, two completely different registers.
That's the point, presumably. Sanjay Leela Bhansali isn't handing out plot details yet, and the studio hasn't said a word about who Kaushal is playing or how these two moods connect. But stacking a hard poster against a gentle one in the space of a few days does a specific job. It tells you this character has range before you've heard a single line of dialogue.
The posters have arrived in sequence, first Ranbir Kapoor, then Alia Bhatt, and now these two looks at Kaushal, who's completing the trio at the centre of the film. It's the first time the three of them are sharing a Bhansali set together, which on its own is enough to get trade circles talking regardless of what the story turns out to be.
For Kaushal specifically, this is new ground. He's never worked with Bhansali before, and he's called the collaboration "Truly One Off The Bucket List," which tells you where his own excitement sits even if the character remains a mystery to everyone else.
What we don't have yet is a synopsis, a supporting cast beyond the marquee three, or any sense of the timeline the film is set in. Bhansali's period dramas tend to reveal themselves slowly, poster by poster, song by song, and Love & War looks set to follow that pattern rather than break it.
What we do have is a date. The film opens worldwide on January 21, 2027, releasing in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu simultaneously, a scale that signals how much the makers are banking on this cast pulling audiences across markets.
With over a year still to go before release, expect the poster drops to keep coming, one mood at a time, until Bhansali decides it's time to show his hand properly. The next reveal, whenever it lands, will likely tell us more about Bhatt's character or finally hint at what actually connects these three people on screen.
