Vivek Oberoi says Ranbir Kapoor made him see 'My Ram Ji' in Ramayana: Part 1, calls Yash 'brilliant' as Ravana
Ranbir Kapoor’s Shri Ram has arrived. And according to Vivek Oberoi, it’s not just a performance — it’s a revelation. The actor, who plays Vidyuthjiva in Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana: Part 1, took to social media on November 6 to declare that after watching the film’s theatrical release on November 5, he finally saw ‘my Ram ji’ on screen.
No more speculation. No more second-guessing. Just belief. Oberoi didn’t hold back.
He called Ranbir’s portrayal of Lord Rama ‘a defining moment for Indian cinema,’ and described the experience as transporting, ‘I didn’t feel like I was watching a film. I felt like I had travelled back to the Ram Yug.’ The emotional weight of the moment wasn’t lost on him. He referred to the film as a ‘MahaYagya for Bhartiya culture & values,’ and called his role a ‘small Ahuti’, a sacred offering.
And then came the praise for Yash as Ravana. Oberoi called the actor’s take on the demon king ‘brilliant,’ specifically highlighting the sequence with Ravana’s ten heads. ‘The grandeur, power and presence you bring to Ravan are something else,’ he wrote. He also saluted Sai Pallavi as Sita, Ravi Dubey as Lakshman, Rakul Preet Singh, Lara Dutta as Kaikeyi, and Arun Govil as Dashrath.
Behind the scenes, Oberoi credited A.R. Rahman and lyricist Kumar Vishwas for the film’s soul, and Mahesh Limaye’s cinematography for its visual depth. But it’s the front-of-camera magic, the way Ranbir embodies the divine, that seems to have shaken him most. Now, the real test begins. The film opens wide across India and the US on November 5.
Audiences will decide if this is mythic cinema or mythic overreach. But one thing’s certain: Vivek Oberoi isn’t waiting for reviews. He’s already seen his Ram ji.
