The veteran actor's Instagram comment on Alia Bhatt's cabaret-themed poster came a day after Ranbir Kapoor's first look from Sanjay Leela Bhansali's film went up.
Alia Bhatt put up two posters on Friday from Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Love & War, and within hours Zeenat Aman had weighed in from the comments section.
The posters show Bhatt on stage in a feathered headpiece, a crop top and a skirt slit to the thigh, boots included. It's a look built for a cabaret number, and it landed a day after Ranbir Kapoor's first look from the same film went up online.
Zeenat Aman, who spent much of the 1970s owning exactly this kind of screen moment, wasn't shy about it. "Well, well… SLB has unleashed a showgirl!" she wrote in the comments, sparkle and heart emojis included. She went further on her own Instagram Stories, reposting one of the images with the line "The 70's are back and cabaret never looked this good!"
Bhatt wrote back thanking her, and added that Zeenat had come up more than once during the shoot. "We've spoken about you countless times on set, so this feels extra special," she said, tagging the veteran actor directly.
It's the kind of cross-generation nod that trade watchers love, one screen icon passing the baton to whoever's playing her kind of part now. Whether Bhatt's character in Love & War is meant to echo that specific era of Hindi cinema, the makers haven't said.
And that's largely the story with this film right now. Bhansali is writing, directing and producing Love & War himself, on top of editing and composing it, so whatever plot details exist are staying inside a tight circle. Earlier leaked looks had suggested Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal might be playing military officers, which would fit a story set against a war, but nobody official has confirmed character details for any of the three leads.
The reveal strategy has been deliberate, one poster a day, one actor at a time, with more expected for Vicky Kaushal before the run is done. It's generated exactly the kind of online chatter Bhansali's films tend to draw, some of it admiring, some of it skeptical about whether his female leads keep landing in the same performative, stage-and-spotlight space. That debate isn't new to his filmography, and this poster hasn't settled it either way.
What's confirmed is the release date. Love & War is set for January 21, 2027, giving Bhansali roughly four months to keep the reveals coming before anyone actually sees the film. The next poster, and the next round of comments, should tell us more about where this one's headed.
