Angel Studios is a production company known for its shift toward mainstream genre films, highlighted by the release of Alan Ritchson’s Runner on PVOD. The studio has also taken on high-profile projects like Robert Pattinson’s Primetime, reviving a previously shelved drama about a journalist’s investigation into child trafficking.
Alan Ritchson’s Runner lands on PVOD this Thursday — October 13 — after a prolonged theatrical run. The film, directed by Scott Waugh and co-starring Owen Wilson, follows an ex-soldier and a courier racing across the country to deliver a liver to a dying girl while evading a cartel. It’s not the kind of plot that usually earns a second life in cinemas, but Runner found its groove in the quiet.
Angel Studios has taken on ‘Primetime’, a Robert Pattinson‑led film about Chris Hansen’s anti‑predator crusade, after Disney declined to release the controversial child‑trafficking story. The move reignites debate over Hollywood’s handling of sensitive subjects.
Alan Ritchson and Owen Wilson's cartel-chase thriller Runner opened to $2.5 million on Friday across over 2,500 North American theatres, with an A- CinemaScore suggesting word of mouth could carry it further despite a modest start.
