The Le Mans Race at Silverstone Circuit in the United Kingdom, held on September 12, threw up two separate viral moments involving Tamil cinema. One was Vijay, the actor turned Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, flagging off the event. The other was Ajith Kumar, who took part in the race and, in a clip now spreading across Instagram, did not look pleased to be approached.

In the video, a fan walks right up to Ajith to get a selfie in. The actor does not smile for it. Instead he gives the man a long, stern stare while the fan fumbles with his phone. His bodyguard moves in almost immediately and steers the fan away. Ajith keeps his eyes on him even after that, the glare holding for a beat longer than anyone in the frame seems comfortable with.

The clip surfaced via an Instagram post from user @dr.kokilawilliams and has since picked up a stream of reactions, most of them arguing about fan entitlement versus a star's right to personal space.

One commenter pushed back hard on the idolisation angle: "Why do some people treat an actor like a god and even risk their lives or die for them? You are the customer... They should value and respect their fans, not the other way around."

Another went further, writing they hoped a day comes when Ajith travels for his racing events and "nobody turns-up to see him, or cheer him or take pictures with him," adding that Tamil fans need to "gain self respect."

A third viewer thought the whole thing was being overread, calling it simple fan enthusiasm and adding that "that serious look was not required for that moment."

So the comment section is split, roughly, between people defending the actor's space and people saying he overreacted to a starstruck fan. Neither camp is wrong exactly. That is just what a selfie request looks like when one side has a bodyguard.

The pairing of Ajith and Vijay at the same motorsport event, even without them sharing a frame in any official capacity, has itself become a talking point given Vijay's current political role and Ajith's long-running motorsport hobby, which he has pursued alongside his acting career for years.

On screen, Ajith was last seen in Good Bad Ugly, which did solid business at the box office. He is now attached to Dare Devil, a project being directed by Adhik Ravichandran, with details on shoot progress and release timing yet to be made official.
