According to these unverified numbers, Akshay charged Rs 54 crore for a role he says took him just 12 days to shoot, which works out to roughly Rs 4.5 crore a day if the figure holds. Saif, who is technically the film's central character, reportedly settled for Rs 8 crore. Priyadarshan himself is said to have taken Rs 14 crore as director, nearly double Saif's fee but still a fraction of what his leading man allegedly pocketed.

None of this has been confirmed by the actors, the production or Priyadarshan. Fee reports like these tend to float around every big release and rarely get an official yes or no. But the scale of the gap here, with Akshay reportedly out-earning Saif by nearly seven times, has been enough to get people talking.

These fee numbers are doing the rounds just as Haiwaan's opening weekend numbers have turned into their own conversation, with the film struggling to find footing against an unlikely small-budget competitor that's been running for over a month now. A Rs 54 crore paycheck reads very differently against a rough opening than it would against a hit.

Akshay and Priyadarshan go back decades, through Hera Pheri, Bhagam Bhag, Bhool Bhulaiyaa and Bhooth Bangla among others, so a premium fee for the reunion wouldn't shock anyone in the trade. Whether Rs 54 crore is the real number or trade gossip inflating itself, nobody involved has said a word on record yet. Don't expect that to change soon. Studios rarely confirm or deny these figures unless a number gets so wildly wrong that silence starts looking worse than a correction.
