Myntra has turned the launch of its annual Big Fashion Festival into a comedy of everyday triggers. The brand announced on Thursday that Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor will front a series of short films that go live on 8 October, just as the platform opens its virtual doors to more than eight million new looks.

The premise is simple: a tiny, random incident – a forgotten hair tie, a polite cab driver, a sudden sneeze – spirals into a full‑blown fantasy of wardrobe upgrades. Each vignette ends with a click‑through to the festival’s deals, underscoring the message that any excuse is good enough for a shopping binge.

"BFF has always been about giving customers a reason to refresh their style at unmatched value. What we really wanted with this campaign was for the humour to do the heavy lifting. Through Alia and Ranbir, we've captured just how universally fun the logic behind shopping can be, a scrunchie, an OTP, even a sneeze can spiral into an entire imagined story that ends in a shopping cart. It's silly, it's relatable, and it's exactly the energy we want customers to associate with BFF this year. Each film is rooted in a moment everyone has lived through, which is what makes the hype so funny, and so easy to see yourself in. We want every customer, across every city, to feel that with deals this good, literally any reason is reason enough to shop," said Neha Gulati, senior director of brand marketing at Myntra.

Ranbir’s sketches follow a familiar pattern. In one, he discovers an ex‑girlfriend’s scrunchie while cleaning for Diwali, and the find triggers a day‑dream of her wedding invite, a Bollywood‑style entrance, and a sudden need for a fresh ethnic wardrobe. In another, he offers his seat to an elderly aunt at a wedding, prompting visions of blessings, a budding romance and a wardrobe shift from casual kurta to sharper shirts.

Alia’s side of the campaign flips the lens. One clip shows a cab driver’s respectful "madam" turning into fantasies of a promotion at work, followed by a hunt for the perfect celebratory outfit. Another features a lucky card win that spirals into imagined family gatherings and the hunt for a flawless kurta set.

"These films are a lot of fun because the humour comes from something so real. We've all had a random thought spiral into a full‑blown shopping decision. The logic makes zero sense and somehow makes complete sense at the same time. I think audiences are going to see a bit of themselves in every one of these moments, and that's what makes BFF's campaign and proposition land so well this year," Ranbir Kapoor added.

Alia Bhatt echoed the sentiment, noting, "I love how these films take the smallest, most random things… an OTP, a card game, even a sneeze… and somehow your brain turns them into a perfectly good reason to shop! Which, honestly, is very relatable. We all have those moments where one thought leads to another and suddenly you’ve completely justified something you probably didn’t need five minutes ago. It made the films really fun to shoot because the situations are silly, but also weirdly real. And this time, with Myntra BFF, there’s actually a reward for letting your mind run away with you!"

The campaign arrives just weeks before the festive season, a period when Indian shoppers traditionally splurge on new clothes. By tying humor to the impulse‑buy mindset, Myntra hopes to capture both the millennial crowd that lives for meme‑worthy moments and the broader audience that still values a good discount.

If the ads hit the mark, the platform could see a surge in traffic that rivals its previous festival peaks. The real test will be whether the quirky logic translates into actual cart additions once the deals go live on October 8.

What’s next? The short films roll out across YouTube, Instagram Reels and Myntra’s own app in the coming days. Viewers can expect a fresh clip each day leading up to the launch, each ending with a swipe‑up link to the festival’s homepage.

Stay tuned for the first reactions once the campaign hits the feed, and keep an eye on the sales dashboard after the October 8 kickoff.
