Actress Ambika has broken her silence on the fraud complaint her sister, actress Radha, filed against her and their brother, calling it a one-sided version of a family dispute that has been simmering for months.
Radha's complaint, lodged at the Chennai Police Commissioner's office, alleges that Ambika and their brother used her old cheques without her knowledge in an attempt to draw close to Rs 46 crore. That much has been public knowledge for a few days. What Ambika added at her press meet is a counter-narrative, and a counter-complaint she says was filed at the same office two months before Radha went public.
The Cheque Story, Her Version
Ambika didn't deny the basic facts. She confirmed to reporters, per Filmibeat Tamil, that Radha did give her a cheque and that the cheque was later stopped. But she said that's not the whole picture. According to her, she was handed three cheques in total, including one tied to her share in the ARS Garden property and one linked to gold she says is hers, and all three were stopped by Radha and their brother themselves. When the cheques bounced, Ambika said, she was the one who suffered the financial hit, and she argued it should have been her filing a police complaint first, not the other way round.
She also brought up jewellery she says she handed over to Radha years ago, which she claims nobody has accounted for since. "Radha has a weakness for gold," Ambika said, according to the interview, adding that the moment gold comes into the picture, something changes in her sister.
The ARS Garden Fight
The emotional core of Ambika's interview was ARS Garden, the property she says she was central to building and describes as being like her own child. She claimed their mother had wanted the place named after Ambika while she was still alive, a point Ambika said Radha's husband himself has confirmed in a separate interview. Despite that, Ambika said, the property now carries a different name entirely, something she said she discovered only after visiting the site recently and finding it rebranded.
Ambika said she has a stake in a production company operating out of ARS Garden and has tried repeatedly to reach Radha and their brother over both the naming issue and the shareholding, without any response. Calls, she said, simply don't go through, and she suspects her number has been blocked.
"Am I dead?" Ambika asked at one point, visibly emotional, saying a single word from her family would have meant something.
What Happens Next
Ambika maintains that she and her brother stayed quiet about their own complaint for two months, choosing not to drag a family matter into public view until Radha's version started circulating. With both a complaint and a counter-complaint now sitting with the Chennai Police Commissioner's office, whether this moves beyond a media back-and-forth into a formal police inquiry is the next thing to watch.
