American Horror Story is getting a 14th season — and it’s already confirmed before the finale of Season 13 airs. FX has renewed the franchise for another chapter, just weeks after its biggest streaming launch yet. The news drops as Season 13’s final two episodes air Thursday, October 29, ahead of Halloween.

No theme, cast, or plot details have been revealed, but sources confirm the renewal was sealed during the show’s current run. Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk’s long-running horror anthology has now officially passed its 13th season milestone, with Season 14 set to follow. The series, which began in 2011 with Murder House, has always leaned into new stories each year, though Season 13 broke that mold with an Avengers-style crossover, bringing back Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Angela Bassett, Kathy Bates, Emma Roberts, Billie Lourd, Gabourey Sidibe, Leslie Grossman, and more.

Joey Pollari plays Ben DeSoto, a hospice worker with triskaidekaphobia, tasked with caring for former characters at a mysterious New York City facility called The Apollyon. The season opened with 4 million views in four days, the best premiere in the series’ history. It also topped Nielsen’s Streaming Top 10 charts and became Murphy’s largest debut on Hulu and Disney+.

Critics gave it a solid 75% on Rotten Tomatoes, but audiences were divided, their score sits at just 35%, the lowest in the show’s history. That gap hasn’t stopped the renewal. Ratings matter more than reviews in this game. Season 14 will likely return to the anthology format, according to insiders, though nothing is official.

Murphy has hinted at a reset. The executive producers remain unchanged: Ned Martel, Charlie Carver, Eric Kovtun, Nissa Diederich, Scott Robertson, Tanase Popa, Crystle Roberson Dorsey, Jennifer Salt, and Tim Minear. The series has earned over 100 Emmy nominations and 17 wins, including multiple trophies for Lange, Bates, and James Cromwell.

With Season 13 still airing, the next chapter is already being planned. What comes next? A haunted asylum? A cursed island?

Or another wild crossover? Only time, and Murphy, will tell.
