A Gandhinagar court will take up the matter on September 25. That's the date senior civil judge R Agarwal has set to hear Dunes Aviation's Rs 3 crore defamation suit against Nora Fatehi, filed over something she said about their plane on Instagram.

The backstory, according to a PTI report carried by Bollywood Hungama and The Free Press Journal, goes back to December last year. Nora took a Mumbai-Jaipur flight on a Dunes Aviation charter and posted videos from inside the aircraft. The company alleges she called it a "miniature", a "toy" and, memorably, a "Lego airplane".

Dunes Aviation isn't treating this as a joke. Its suit describes the comments as "reckless, irresponsible, and made without any technical knowledge, verification or factual basis", and claims they caused "serious reputational damage, loss of goodwill and adverse commercial impact". The company puts Nora's Instagram following at over 4.6 crore, and argues that's exactly why the remarks landed so hard.

The numbers in the suit are specific. Bookings down 15 to 20 per cent since the videos went up. Cancellations up. Whether a court accepts that causal link, of course, is a different question from whether the company believes it.

On the aircraft itself, Dunes Aviation is emphatic. The suit says the Cessna Citation CJ2 used for that flight was a standard aircraft, properly sized for the route, fully DGCA-certified, airworthy, and operated under a valid Non-Scheduled Operator's Permit. In other words: nothing toy-like about it, on paper at least.

Beyond the Rs 3 crore in damages, the company wants two more things from the court. One, an order directing Nora to take down the posts and any other content referencing the aircraft. Two, a public clarification from her on the comments.

Nora Fatehi has not issued a statement on the suit as of this writing. None of the claims made by Dunes Aviation have been tested in court, and nothing here amounts to a finding against her. This is one company's version of events, filed as a civil suit, and it will be argued out starting later this month.

Worth remembering that Nora's been in the news for other reasons too this week, after some podcast comments drew comment from Guru Randhawa in her defence. Different controversy, same pattern though, an offhand line turning into a longer story than anyone probably expected when she hit post.

For now, the calendar has the next move. September 25, Gandhinagar, senior civil judge R Agarwal's courtroom. Whether this settles quietly or turns into a longer legal fight over what you're allowed to call a chartered jet on Instagram, we'll know more after that.
