Prahaar: The Untold Story of Ujjwal Nikam lands in theatres on October 16, and with it, a casting decision that’s already drawing attention. Ritvik Sahore steps into the role of Aniket Nikam, son of Rajkummar Rao’s real-life special public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam, in Avinash Arun’s latest biographical drama. The film, which traces the professional highs and personal tolls of Nikam’s career through high-profile legal cases, hinges on more than courtroom theatrics — it’s built around a father-son relationship that Arun says was central to his vision. The choice of Sahore wasn’t arbitrary. According to the director, the suggestion came from casting director Anmol Ahuja, who has worked with Arun before. ‘Anmol Ahuja ka suggestion tha,’ Arun told Bollywood Hungama. ‘And instantly, the character I was looking for, when I heard his name, it was like, YES!’ He didn’t just see a face, he saw an emotional anchor. ‘Ritvik ek honest, ek earnest, itna ek sensitive actor hai,’ Arun said, adding that Sahore’s approach to his craft is ‘very thorough’. That sensitivity, he believes, was essential for portraying a son grappling with a father’s legacy. Sahore, who began as a child actor in Ferrari Ki Sawaari and Dangal, has since appeared in films and web series including Flames, Indori Ishq, Campus Diaries, and Jamnapaar. His performance in Prahaar marks a significant step in his career. One that places him opposite Rao in a story where professional triumph and private grief intersect. The film is directed by Arun, known for Killa and Three of Us, and carries the weight of a narrative shaped not just by facts, but by feeling. With the release date set, the question isn’t just whether the film will hold the screen, it’s whether Sahore’s quiet intensity can carry the emotional core of a story that’s as much about loss as it is about justice.
