Dharma Productions has dropped its first poster for Udta Teer, and it's not the flag-waving image you'd expect from a film about the border. Ayushmann Khurrana is shown reclining on a hammock strung literally between the India and Pakistan boundary markers, a "Top Secret" file resting on his chest, while a goat in sunglasses lounges somewhere in the frame. Subtle, it is not.

The tagline does the rest of the talking: "Desh Bhakti Yaad Hai, Par Desh Nahi." Roughly, patriotism he remembers, the nation itself, not so much. It's a strange line for a film that's presumably going to ask its hero to pick a side eventually, and it suggests Udta Teer wants to have fun with border politics rather than salute it.

Sara Ali Khan plays opposite Ayushmann, their second film together after Pati Patni Aur Woh Do released earlier this year. Whether this one leans further into comedy or uses the goofy poster as a bait-and-switch for something darker is still anyone's guess. Akash A Kaushik has written and directed the film.

Who's paying for it

The production list reads like a small consortium. Dharma Productions and Sikhya Entertainment are behind it, with Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla and Apoorva Mehta credited as producers alongside Guneet Monga Kapoor and Achin Jain. Raunaq Bajaj comes in as co-producer. Netflix and Star Gold are both attached, and Sony Music has a hand in how the film is presented, which usually means the music rollout starts soon.

Bollywood Hungama has also reported, in a separate exclusive, that the late actor Mukul Dev appears in Udta Teer, in what would be his final on-screen role. That detail hasn't come with further specifics on the character or how much screen time it involves, so treat it as reported rather than confirmed in full. If true, it adds a weight to the film that the poster's tone doesn't hint at.

The India-Pakistan setting has become something of a crowded lane in Hindi cinema over the past couple of years, most of it played straight and loud. Udta Teer betting on a hammock and a goat is either a genuinely fresh angle or a poster team overcompensating for a film that plays it safer once the trailer drops. We won't know which until that trailer shows up.

Udta Teer is set for a worldwide theatrical release on October 9, 2026, going up against whatever else Dharma and its rivals line up for that Friday. Expect a full trailer, and probably the first song, before the month is out.
