Word out of Filmnagar is that Balakrishna's Dada has already found a buyer for its non-theatrical rights, and the number being floated is eye-watering: Rs 70 crore.

According to industry sources quoted by Oneindia Telugu, streaming platform Zee5 has locked in the digital, satellite and audio rights for the Gopichand Malineni film at what's being called a premium rate. Nothing official yet from either Zee5 or the Dada production house, so treat the figure as trade chatter for now, not confirmed business. The report itself says as much, that it'll take a few more days before anyone can say how much of this is real.

What's driving the buzz is simple. Balakrishna and Malineni are back together after Veera Simha Reddy worked, and the recent title glimpse only added fuel. That's reportedly translated into real interest from big players chasing both theatrical and non-theatrical rights, which is standard territory for a film carrying this kind of star weight into a Christmas slot.

Dada is set in the 1980s, built as a gangster and mafia drama with Balakrishna playing both the don and the family man, if the reports about Malineni's writing are accurate. Kajal Aggarwal plays the heroine, Manchu Manoj is the antagonist, and the rest of the cast is yet to be locked down publicly. Thaman is on music, a pairing Balakrishna has stuck with across several recent films. Arvind S Kashyap, who shot Kantara, is behind the camera, and Burra Sai Madhav is writing the dialogue, which on a Balayya film usually means the punch lines are half the marketing.

The shoot hasn't been entirely smooth. Balakrishna picked up an injury partway through, which forced the makers to pause production. They've since resumed, working around him and picking up scenes that don't need the lead actor on set. Filmnagar talk puts the remaining shoot at somewhere between 20 and 25 days, with Malineni reportedly hoping to wrap everything by October so post-production can move fast against a tight runway.

The plan, as it's being described, is to run promotions alongside that post-production sprint rather than after it, which tracks with a December 24 release date the makers have already locked in. Venkata Satish Kilaru is producing under his Vృద్ధి Cinemas banner.

So the film itself is in motion. The Rs 70 crore number is the part still floating without a signature on it. Zee5's silence and the makers' silence both count for something here, and until one of them speaks, this stays exactly what Filmnagar is calling it: a big number, unverified, attached to a film that clearly has buyers circling.
