Eighteen days in, and Bethlehem Kudumba Unit still hasn't slowed down enough to matter.

The Girish AD-directed rom-com added 4.37 crore in India and 1 crore overseas on its third Monday, a combined 5.37 crore for the day, according to Koimoi. Track Tollywood's numbers run a touch higher across the board but tell the same story: eighteen straight days of at least 4 crore gross from India alone, an unusually flat curve for a film this deep into its run.

Do the addition and the film has now crossed L2: Empuraan's lifetime worldwide gross, which Koimoi pegs at 268.23 crore. Bethlehem Kudumba Unit's own tally stands at 271.98 crore by Koimoi's count, or close to 273 crore by Track Tollywood's, the small gap coming down to how each site rounds off regional splits. Either way, the film is now Mollywood's second-highest grosser of all time, globally, ahead of Mohanlal's Empuraan and behind only Lokah Chapter 1 - Chandra, which sits at 305.17 crore.

That gap is shrinking fast enough to matter. Track Tollywood puts the film roughly 27 crore short of what it's calling Industry Hit status worldwide, and estimates it needs another 10 crore in Kerala alone to claim the outright top spot as Mollywood's highest-grossing film ever. Koimoi frames the same target differently, as simply overtaking Lokah's 305.17 crore worldwide number. Either way, the film is within striking distance, not in a maybe-someday sense but in a matter-of-weeks sense.

What's driving this is hold, not opening scale. The film opened at 4.69 crore on day one per Track Tollywood, hardly a thunderclap by Malayalam blockbuster standards. But the third-Friday number, 10.26 crore, only dropped 47.66% by the following Monday. That's the kind of retention distributors build release calendars around. A rom-com carrying a near-90% ratio between its opening day and its 18th day isn't coasting on hype. It's running on people going back for a second watch, or dragging someone who missed it the first time.

The India total now reads 149.98 crore, the overseas number 122 crore. Split that evenly and it looks almost like two different hits stacked on top of each other, a strong domestic run plus a diaspora run that refuses to taper. For a genre that rarely travels this well outside Kerala, that overseas number is arguably the more interesting statistic here.

Credit lands with Fahadh Faasil, Dileesh Pothan and Syam Pushkaran, who backed the film through Fahadh Faasil and Friends, Bhavana Studios and Working Class Hero. Nivin Pauly and Mamitha Baiju carry the leads, with Sangeeth Prathap, Shyam Mohan, Suresh Krishna and Vinay Forrt rounding out the cast.

The question now is timing. If the daily numbers hold anywhere close to their current pace, Bethlehem Kudumba Unit could close the gap on Lokah Chapter 1 - Chandra within the next fortnight. Whether it actually gets there before the fourth weekend runs out is the only number left to watch.
