Bipasha Basu opened a fresh jar of Isopure protein powder on Thursday and says she found worms in it. Not one. Several, according to the Instagram Story she posted, where she holds up her finger with what looks like a tiny worm on it before panning across the container.

"This Isopure is full of small worms. Tiny, tiny worms. The new dabba that we've opened," she said, before adding, "These are the worms inside it, full of it."

She didn't stop at a complaint to the brand. Basu tagged Tukaram Mundhe, the Maharashtra FDA commissioner, directly, writing "You are our only hope" and asking that the state be spared "spoilt or adulterated stuff" in things people buy. Bollywood Hungama reported that her allegation has not been independently verified, and as of Thursday neither Isopure nor the FDA had issued a public response.

Mundhe has become something of a folk hero this year for a run of hygiene crackdowns on Mumbai's restaurants and cafes, enough that social media has taken to calling him a "real-life Singham." Salman Khan leaned into that reputation just days earlier, posting from a friend's new Bandra cafe with a line that read like a threat wrapped in a joke: keep the price steady, keep hygiene maintained, or "I will send HIM and it's done." He never named Mundhe. He didn't have to.

Basu's post lands in that same current of grievance, except hers reads like genuine frustration rather than a wink at a meme. A packaged protein supplement, sealed and freshly opened, allegedly turning up contaminated is the sort of complaint that travels fast on its own, and it travels faster still coming from someone who has spent years talking about training and diet discipline in public. She built a chunk of her image on exactly that discipline. A compromised jar isn't a small thing for her to flag.

The timing is a little awkward too. Basu had just wrapped a run of coverage around her new Elle digital cover, where she spoke about motherhood, her choices and doing things people advised against. A worm complaint wasn't the follow-up anyone had lined up, least of all her.

What happens next depends on Mundhe's office. If the FDA moves on this the way it has moved on restaurant complaints lately, expect an inspection and possibly a statement from Isopure's distributors in India. If it doesn't, this stays exactly what it is right now: one actor's Instagram Story, one tagged official, and no reply yet.
