Sixteen celebrities. One ballroom. And a cast that ABC is calling the largest in the show's history.

Dancing with the Stars Season 35 goes live tonight at 8 p.m. ET, and the show is leaning hard into its size this time round. Sixteen names is a lot to fit into a two-night premiere, but that's the plan, with the second half of the opener airing tomorrow before the series settles into its regular Tuesday slot.

Two of those sixteen are making history simply by being in the same room. Olympian Amber Glenn and Paralympian Ezra Frech will be the first Olympic and Paralympic champions to compete on the show during the same season. Model Sarah Jane Nader adds another first, becoming only the third contestant to dance with a same-sex partner on DWTS.

The rest of the cast leans reality-heavy. Selling the OC's Conner Leavitt, Traitors alum Maura Higgins and Summer House's Ciara Miller are all in the mix, alongside three actors who came into this with actual dance backgrounds, Jenna Dewan, Julia Stiles and Harry Shum Jr.

The pro side gets a shake-up too

Witney Carlos, last season's champion pro, returns and has been paired with Jimmy Kimmel Live sidekick Guillermo Rodriguez. Val Chmerkovskiy, runner-up in Season 34, is back as well, as is third-place finisher Ezra Sosa. Higgins, has been paired with fellow Traitors faithful Mark Ballas rather than a new face, which is its own bit of stunt casting.

The pro roster itself grows by two names this year. Adele Zaikman, who won DWTS's Next Pro competition, makes her debut on the main show, and Hailey Bills gets bumped up from the troupe after a season in the background.

Week 1's theme keeps things nostalgic without getting too specific. Each celebrity dances to the number one hit from the year they were born, which for a cast spanning Olympic athletes to reality TV veterans should throw up a fairly wide spread of decades.

If you're watching without cable

You'll need a live TV streaming option to catch it for free. ABC is currently bundled into a couple of discounted DIRECTV genre packs, MyNews at $39.99 a month for two months and MySports at $44.99 a month for six, and both come with a five-day free trial before any billing kicks in.

The premiere itself airs across two nights, tonight and tomorrow, before the show moves into its regular weekly run every Tuesday at 8 p.m. ET. Whether a sixteen-person cast can hold a live audience's attention for a full season is the question the show now has to answer.
