The trailer's out, and Vijay Salgaonkar has never looked more cornered. Drishyam: The Conclusion, the third and final Hindi installment in the franchise, dropped its trailer on Tuesday, and it wastes no time introducing the man who might finally crack the case that's haunted this family for two films now.

Jaideep Ahlawat plays SP Crime Branch Rajveer Singh Tomar, a new officer who picks up where Drishyam 2 left things hanging. Ajay Devgn is back as Vijay, obviously, and the trailer sets up Tomar as the most dangerous adversary he's faced yet. Prakash Raj joins as well, adding another layer of pressure to a plot that already had enough moving parts to keep fans arguing online since 2015.

Tabu, Shriya Saran and Rajat Kapoor return too, which means the core emotional triangle of this franchise, the family protecting its secret and the in-laws determined to expose it, stays intact. Mrunal Jadhav, Kamlesh Sawant and Ishita Dutta round out the cast, according to Bollywood Hungama.

What's changed is the writing. Bollywood Hungama reported that the film uses a fresh story and an entirely new screenplay rather than adapting from the Malayalam original the way the first two films did, at least partially. Abhishek Pathak directs again, and he's co-written the script with Aamil Keeyan Khan and Parveez Shaikh.

Back to where it started

The promotional rollout leaned hard into nostalgia. The makers took the trailer launch to Goa, the setting that's been synonymous with the Salgaonkar family since the first film, and turned it into what Bollywood Hungama described as an immersive experience for media and influencers, walking them through locations tied to earlier films before the trailer itself premiered in Panaji.

Devgn, Tabu, Shriya Saran, Rajat Kapoor, Ahlawat and Jadhav all showed up for it, alongside Pathak and the producers, Alok Jain, Ajit Andhare and Kumar Mangat. That's a lot of firepower for a trailer drop, and it tells you how much is riding on this closing the story on a high.

Bollywood Hungama also reported separately that the trailer has already cleared the CBFC with a U/A 16+ rating, which suggests the content leans a shade darker than what the earlier two films carried.

The Times of India's take on the trailer was shorter but pointed to the same core tension, Devgn's Vijay facing what it called treacherous new challenges with Ahlawat's arrival escalating things fast.

Drishyam and Drishyam 2 both did serious business at the box office, and this third film is presented by Star Studio18 with Panorama Studios producing, a fairly heavyweight setup for what's being sold as the definitive end to Vijay Salgaonkar's story.

Whether it actually is the end, the trailer doesn't quite confirm. What's confirmed is the date. Drishyam: The Conclusion opens in theatres on October 2, 2026, right in the middle of a festive stretch that's already crowded with releases jostling for screens.
