Eight minutes. That's how long the Palazzo del Cinema kept applauding after the world premiere of "Don't Look Back in Anger," the Oasis documentary that finally got Liam and Noel Gallagher back in a room together on camera for more than twenty years.

They walked in through the cinema entrance instead of arriving by car at the start of the carpet, which is a very Gallagher way to make an entrance, and the screams started before anyone even saw them properly. Variety reported the two brothers held hands at one point and raised them up in a shared fist, the kind of gesture that would have seemed unthinkable a few years back given how long this reunion took to happen.

Funny thing is, they weren't even at the press conference for the film earlier that Saturday. That's fed plenty of speculation online about where things actually stand between them, given how public the split once was. But whatever tension exists off-stage, it didn't show up on the red carpet. Autographs, photos, fans in bucket hats singing "Wonderwall" back at them before the brothers had even reached the carpet. Chants of "Oasis! Oasis! Oasis!" One supporter apparently flew a Manchester City flag off a balcony, which tracks.

Both Gallaghers dressed for the occasion too, and that's notable on its own. Liam in a blazer over a T-shirt, Noel in a zip-up jacket, both in black. Anyone who's followed this band knows tracksuits and windbreakers are usually the uniform.

What the film actually is

Directed by Dylan Southern and Will Lovelace, the documentary tracks last year's reunion tour, Oasis Live '25, and includes backstage and onstage footage alongside what's billed as the brothers' first joint interview in over two decades. That tour itself was a genuine event. It sold out instantly and ran across the UK, North America, South Korea, Japan, Australia, Argentina, Chile and Brazil, pulling in a figure that Variety put at hundreds of millions of dollars. This was the first time Liam and Noel had shared a stage since 2009.

The film hits theatres September 11 before landing on Disney+ later this year. Given the tour's numbers, that's a reasonably safe bet commercially, documentary or not.

What's got fans doing actual detective work, though, is whether this reunion has a second act. The band's Instagram has been dropping cryptic teasers, the kind designed to be screenshotted and argued over. And Noel didn't exactly shut the door on a Talksport interview recently, saying, "Let's put it this way: there's no football tournament on next year, so we've got to do something in the summer, right?"

No dates. No confirmation. Just enough to keep the group chats busy until whatever comes next actually gets announced.
