The former winner said linking masculinity to a moustache was narrow thinking, days after Aasif defended housemate Yung DSA during a heated captaincy task.
Gauahar Khan isn't letting a Bigg Boss 19 moustache debate slide.
The Bigg Boss 7 winner took to Instagram to call out Aasif Khan after he told housemates that facial hair defines what it means to be a man. She didn't hold back, and she didn't bother separating the actor from the opinion either.
The flashpoint came during a captaincy task built around rejected stamps, where contestants had to mark out housemates they disapproved of. Gullu stamped Yung DSA on the face, saying Yung had started acting like he ran the house. Part of his complaint was specific: Yung had been styling other contestants' moustaches to match his own, expecting the group to fall in line with his look.
Aasif, who copped the bulk of the rejected stamps that round, jumped in to defend Yung when the moustache issue came up. He explained it in terms of where he's from. "Hum naa Rajasthan se aate hain, yeh mooch humari pehchaan hai, aur muchmundo ko mardon mein consider nahi karte hum. Isliye daadi aisi hai," he said, according to Bollywood Hungama.
That's the line that set Gauahar off.
She posted a note questioning why Aasif, whose acting career she called genuinely strong, would go on the show and put this kind of thinking on display. "He shouldn't have come on the show to showcase such small thinking and really silly behaviour," she wrote, adding that she'd also seen him enjoying it while a female contestant was "dissing uditi" in what she described as a low manner. "Such a good actor par har cheez mein aisi soch choti lagti hai," she added.
She went further on the moustache comment itself, pointing out that in Islam the sunnah for men actually calls for trimming the moustache rather than treating it as a marker of masculinity. "Mard ki nishaani mooch hoti hai hhahahah islam mein toh musalman mard ke liye sunnah is no moonch, has he forgotten that," she wrote, before landing her real point. "Mard ki nishaani uski unchi soch aur behaviour hoti hai! Wish he knew that!"
Gauahar has never been shy about weighing in on the show she once won, and this wasn't a passing dig, it was a full paragraph aimed at a specific contestant's specific words.
Inside the house, the fallout from that captaincy task hasn't settled. Yung DSA and Isha Rikhi are both up for eviction this week, and the moustache argument is just one thread in a house that's clearly running hot heading into the next episode.
Whether Aasif addresses Gauahar's post on camera, or whether the show even brings it up, is the thing to watch for now.
