Bigg Boss Malayalam Season 8 has its first eviction, and it came almost before the season had a chance to breathe. Actress Gayathri Suresh walked out of the house less than 48 hours after the show began, sent packing by captain Jaseela Parveen.

The format gave contestants two paths, according to Oneindia Malayalam. They could either commit to 100 days of eating nothing but kanji and payar, or nominate one housemate for direct elimination. Jaseela, holding captain's powers, picked the second option and named Gayathri.

That's the bit that's got fans talking. Gayathri went in as one of the more closely watched names on the contestant list this season, and the general read among viewers was that she wasn't the type to get knocked out this early, if at all in the opening days. Losing her before the show has even settled into a rhythm has left a section of the fanbase asking why.

A Bigg Boss fan named Jayakrishnan R summed up that unease in a note shared with a fan group, questioning Jaseela's move and pointing out what he called a contradiction in her behaviour. He noted that Jaseela made the call to remove Gayathri entirely on her own, yet turned around afterward and told Gayathri she didn't know what was going on. Whether that was a genuine gap between decision and delivery, or something else, is the kind of thing only the show's edit will eventually clarify.

Gayathri's own exit, didn't come with fireworks. Sources reporting on the episode describe her leaving without an argument, without pointing fingers, shaking hands with the house before walking out. That's being framed as a contrast to a previous season's contestant referred to only as Rini, who reportedly made more of a scene on her way out.

None of this settles whether Gayathri is done with the season. Bigg Boss has a well-worn habit of using wildcard entries and re-entries to bring back contestants who exit early, and the show hasn't ruled anything out either way. For now, all that's confirmed is the elimination itself, the mechanism behind it, and a fandom that isn't fully convinced the story's closed.

What happens next depends on choices the makers haven't announced. If Bigg Boss Malayalam 8 follows the pattern of past seasons, a wildcard slot or a mid-season re-entry could well put Gayathri back in the house, at which point Thursday's eviction gets read very differently. If it doesn't, this stays exactly what it looks like right now, a fast, clean elimination two days into a new season. Either way, the house has ten-odd weeks left to fill, and the makers aren't done shuffling the deck.
