Seven weeks into its run, the mythological drama picked up pace again on Tuesday even as the Kareena Kapoor Khan-Prithviraj Sukumaran film struggled to hold its weekday numbers.
Two very different box office stories are playing out this week, and the gap between them says a lot about how 2026 is shaping up.
Hanuman Ansh, now in its seventh week, pulled in Rs 4.64 crore on Tuesday, taking its India total to Rs 275.90 crore. That's a 20.83% jump over Monday's Rs 3.84 crore, and it means the film needs just Rs 24.10 crore more to cross the Rs 300 crore line. For a film 47 days deep into release, that kind of weekday recovery is not something you see often.
The week has actually been a bit of a rollercoaster. Friday brought in Rs 4.66 crore, then Saturday shot up 85.84% to Rs 8.66 crore, and Sunday climbed another 38.91% to Rs 12.03 crore. Monday cooled off hard, down 68.08% to Rs 3.84 crore, which is standard for the switch from weekend to weekday. But Tuesday clawing back some of that ground is the interesting bit. Seven weeks in, and the film is still finding an audience willing to show up on a Tuesday evening.
At this rate, the Rs 300 crore milestone is a matter of days, not weeks. How fast it gets there depends on whether the second weekend of week seven can repeat this kind of bounce.
Daayra's slower road
Over in a very different lane, Daayra is having a tougher time. The Kareena Kapoor Khan and Prithviraj Sukumaran starrer added Rs 0.45 crore on Tuesday, taking its five-day total to Rs 4.69 crore. It's now Rs 0.31 crore away from the Rs 5 crore mark, a milestone that would have looked modest even before the film released.
The opening weekend wasn't disastrous by any means. Friday opened at Rs 0.94 crore, Saturday jumped 50% to Rs 1.41 crore, and Sunday held nearly steady at Rs 1.39 crore, adding up to a Rs 3.74 crore weekend. But the weekday drop has been steep. Monday fell 66.19% from Sunday to Rs 0.47 crore, slipping under the Rs 50 lakh line, and Tuesday's Rs 0.45 crore was barely different, down just Rs 0.02 crore.
There's a small silver lining in that flatness. A film that's stopped falling has, at least for now, stopped bleeding. Whether that counts as stability or just a low floor is something only the coming weekend will settle.
Daayra will need real weekend traction to make its opening week count for anything. Hanuman Ansh, meanwhile, just has to keep doing what it's been doing since week one. Both numbers get another update once the weekend charts come in.
