Kareena Kapoor Khan is reportedly packing her bags for South Africa this month to shoot a special song with Shah Rukh Khan for his upcoming film King. Pinkvilla first reported the casting, and it's since been picked up by Filmfare, Glamsham and 123telugu, though Red Chillies Entertainment hasn't confirmed a thing yet.

The track is said to be titled Daddy Cool, and according to the reports, it's being treated as one of the biggest set pieces in the film. Kareena has reportedly blocked out five days for the shoot. Sachin Jigar is composing, and Glamsham's report adds that the number is expected to feature an international singer alongside an Indian artist, though nobody's named who that international voice might be.

If it happens, this will be Khan and Kapoor Khan's first time on screen together since Ra.One in 2011. The two go back a long way, from Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham to Don, and a reunion after 15 years is exactly the kind of thing that gets old-school SRK-Bebo fans excited before a single frame has leaked.

A film already stacked with names

King doesn't exactly need the extra star power, but it's getting it anyway. Directed by Siddharth Anand, the film marks Suhana Khan's big screen debut and already carries a cast list that includes Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Rani Mukerji, Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Jaideep Ahlawat, Arshad Warsi and Raghav Juyal. Adding Kareena for a special appearance, even an unconfirmed one, fits a pattern Red Chillies has leaned on before, stacking a film with faces that guarantee a trailer moment even if the role itself is brief.

Timing is the other thread worth pulling on. Both Glamsham and 123telugu note that the makers are expected to drop a new asset from King on November 2, which happens to be Shah Rukh Khan's birthday. If the South Africa schedule wraps as planned later this month, there's a chance Daddy Cool, or at least a glimpse of it, lines up with that release. That would be a fairly on-brand move for a franchise built around using Khan's birthday as a marketing beat.

King is slated to open in theatres on December 24, going up against the usual crowded end-of-year window. What's still missing, and what nobody connected to the production has addressed on record, is confirmation that Kareena's involvement is locked, what she's actually doing in the sequence beyond the song, and who that mystery international singer is supposed to be.

For now it's trade reporting, not an official announcement, and Red Chillies has a habit of staying quiet until it wants to talk. Whether South Africa actually happens this month, and whether Daddy Cool turns up in that November 2 drop, is what settles the question either way.
