Zee Tamil's Karthigai Deepam has found its latest flashpoint in a temple festival poster, and by the end of Saturday's episode it's torn to pieces and hurled in a young woman's face.

Here's how it builds. Revathi is picked to perform Bharatanatyam at the temple's mega kumbabhishekam, a moment she calls the fulfilment of a long-held dream, thanking her uncle for making it happen. Posters go up across the village to announce the show. Nothing unusual there, except one detail on the print. It lists her as the daughter of Rajarajan and Samundeeswari.

That single line sets off two separate blowups.

The first comes earlier in the episode, when word reaches Samundeeswari that Rajarajan, in a trance, had made a prediction the whole village is now talking about. She corners him and lets him have it, unloading her anger face to face.

The second, and the one that carries the episode's real sting, arrives when Chandrakala spots the festival poster and marches straight to Samundeeswari with it. She stokes the fire, suggesting Karthik put the poster out deliberately, knowing full well Samundeeswari has no love for Revathi's dancing. Samundeeswari, seeing her own name attached to a daughter she has publicly disowned, snaps. Why, she demands, does someone who wanted neither a father nor a mother still need her identity printed on a poster? She rips it apart on the spot.

Chandrakala isn't done. She picks up the torn poster and takes it straight to Revathi's house, throwing it at her and yelling that she'd already declared, in front of everyone, that Revathi wasn't her daughter, so what business did anyone have putting her name on the announcement in the first place.

While all this plays out, Karthik, away from the house, is handed a notice. The show doesn't reveal its contents but lingers on his reaction, and it isn't a good one. He looks genuinely rattled.

Three threads are left hanging going into the next episode. What Rajarajan's trance actually predicted and how it plays out. What's written in the notice that's shaken Karthik. And what Samundeeswari does next, given how publicly this quarrel has now spilled out of the house and onto the street.
