Zee Tamil's Karthigai Deepam has found its way to a full-blown murder plot, and it's using a temple dance program to get there.

The setup, per the show's own timeline, starts with a kumbabhishekam celebration. A Bharatanatyam performance is being arranged outside the temple, and Revathi wants in. Samundeswari and Chandrakala don't want that to happen, so they go meet Subbulakshmi, who's set to perform, and convince her that the whole thing is Karthi's doing. Chandrakala isn't stopping there. She tells Sivanandi that Karthi must be made to let Revathi dance, but Revathi should not survive the stage. Sivanandi takes that instruction literally, and hands cash to a goon with orders to kill Revathi during the performance itself.

Revathi, meanwhile, has no idea any of this is in motion. She's thrilled about the dance. "Uncle, I'm going to dance. It'll make Akka, Uncle, Appa, everyone happy if they see this," she tells Karthi. He reassures her that everyone will show up, that nobody's going to stay away just because someone told them not to, and asks her to stop worrying and get ready.

The money trail gets complicated fast. The goon hands his payment to his wife, who wants to know where it came from. He tells her the truth, that Sivanandi paid him to kill Revathi on stage. She's furious, tells him they don't need money like that, that Revathi's family has done enough for them, and that he can't go through with killing someone's wife. He doesn't listen. He locks her inside the house and heads out to finish the job anyway.

Subbulakshmi, for her part, confronts Karthi directly before the show. She accuses him of humiliating her across the neighbourhood by claiming she can't dance, all so Revathi could take her place. "Bharatanatyam is a serious art form, don't you know that much?" she asks him, and throws down a challenge: let Revathi compete against her and see who actually wins. That challenge turns into a dance competition running alongside everything else at the venue.

So by the time the episode ends, there are three separate things happening on and around that stage. Revathi and Subbulakshmi are mid-competition. The goon is hiding among the trees, waiting for his opening. And his wife, somehow out of the locked house, has made it to the venue, carrying the one piece of information that could stop all of it.

Whether she reaches Revathi before the goon does is where the show has left things. Zee Tamil hasn't put out a promo detailing tomorrow's episode yet, so viewers are stuck with the cliffhanger for now.
