The T-Series musical, marking Sreeleela's Bollywood debut, finally has a release date after months of shoot delays and fan frustration.
Kartik Aaryan and Sreeleela's untitled romantic musical, directed by Anurag Basu, now has a release date: April 30, 2027. T-Series has locked it in, with Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar producing and Pritam composing the music, according to Bollywood Hungama.
The film marks the first screen pairing between Kartik and Sreeleela, and it's also Sreeleela's Bollywood debut. She's spent her career in Telugu and Kannada cinema, and broke into the Hindi-speaking consciousness through Kissik, her song from Pushpa 2.
That crossover moment appears to have set up this casting. Producers clearly saw an opening, and Basu's film hands her a full lead role opposite one of Hindi cinema's busiest young stars.
Getting here wasn't smooth. 123telugu reported that shoot delays and schedule cancellations had left fans of both actors frustrated for months, with little clarity on when, or if, the film would actually come together. Basu himself pushed back on talk that the shoot was nearly wrapped, calling the claim that "majority of the shooting is done" a myth, per Bollywood Hungama.
So a firm date changes the conversation. It tells the trade the production is real, it's moving, and T-Series is ready to put a number on it.
What it isn't: Aashiqui 3. The project had been linked to the romantic musical franchise for months, feeding plenty of fan speculation, but reports are clear this is an original love story with no connection to the Aashiqui films. The title doing the rounds is Tu Meri Zindagi Hai, though nothing's been confirmed officially.
The promos so far lean into a rockstar aesthetic. Glimpses have shown Kartik with a guitar, in a rougher, more musician-coded look than his usual roles, with brief shots of him and Sreeleela together.
On the calendar, April 30 lands in open water. There's no other major Hindi release currently booked for that Friday. It arrives about three weeks after SS Rajamouli's Varanasi, starring Mahesh Babu and Priyanka Chopra Jonas, which opens April 7, 2027. The next big titles after that are Lag Jaa Gale, with Tiger Shroff, Lakshya and Janhvi Kapoor, and the Sourav Ganguly biopic DADA, both set for May 14.
That gives Basu's film close to two clear weeks to run solo before the next wave of releases hits. For a music-driven love story banking on word of mouth and a Pritam soundtrack, that's exactly the kind of runway a studio wants.
Six months out, the title's still unofficial and the plot's still under wraps. What's locked is the date, and after a year of stop-start schedules, that's the part that actually matters right now.
