Kelly Osbourne has finally said out loud what fans have suspected for two decades: there's no fixing things with her sister Aimee.

On the September 15 episode of the We Need to Talk podcast, the 41-year-old described the estrangement in blunt terms. "We're not close," she said, adding that she couldn't get into the full story because she didn't want to speak for Aimee. What she did share was pointed enough on its own.

"It was always me and Jack," Kelly said, referring to their brother Jack Osbourne, 40. "If I'm honest, my older sister didn't really ever acknowledge me and my brother. She was just in her own world doing her own thing."

Oil and water

Aimee, 43, opted out of The Osbournes when MTV filmed the family across four seasons between 2002 and 2005, a decision that set the tone for how differently the siblings would live their adult lives. Kelly became a fixture of reality TV and red carpets. Aimee went the other way, surfacing publicly only occasionally, most recently at the 2026 Grammys when the show paid tribute to their late father Ozzy.

Kelly says that gap in visibility left her with something close to bitterness. She told the podcast it felt, at times, like Aimee was "embarrassed" of the rest of the family, though she stopped short of stating that as fact. "I'll never really, truly understand," she said. "It just felt that way."

The two, she said, are simply built differently. "Everything I am, she's not. Everything she is, I'm not. You couldn't be more polar opposite. We're like oil and water."

That gap has cost her something specific, Kelly said, the ordinary experience of having an older sibling to lean on. "It's one of the hardest things of my life, that I never got a big sister. And I had to learn how to do certain things that a big sister should have taught you on my own. And I do have a resentment there. I'll have that forever."

Asked directly if reconciliation was possible, Kelly didn't hedge. "No," she said, before adding, "I respect her. I accept her. But we're different. And that's OK." She went further, saying she has no interest in a relationship with someone who won't accept her as she is. "If you're not gonna accept me for who I am and constantly be trying to change me and say horrible things about me and truly seem to thrive when I'm not doing well, I don't want you in my life."

The comments track with what Jack said about Aimee roughly a year ago, when he admitted their relationship also wasn't "great." Aimee herself has previously told The Independent that she skipped the family's reality show to protect her younger, more "impressionable" siblings, and has described the family dynamic since as one of acceptance rather than closeness. "Do we socialize? No," she said at the time.

Whatever the daily distance, the three siblings showed up together when it mattered. All of them traveled to Birmingham for Ozzy's funeral procession after his death last year, and stood side by side again at the Grammys tribute. Whether that's the ceiling of their relationship going forward, or just the floor, is the part Kelly isn't saying.
