The Agni Pariksha contestant, once expected to stay out over health concerns, walked into the house days after Modern Mahakavi Manjunath was sent packing for alleged abusive language.
Bigg Boss Kannada Season 13 has thrown up another curveball. Days after Modern Mahakavi Manjunath was shown the door over allegations of using abusive language inside the house, contestant Kumari has walked in to replace the vacancy left behind.
It's a swap that came as a surprise to most viewers. Kumari had taken part in the Agni Pariksha, the entry trial that decides who gets a shot at the house. But word going around was that she'd be staying outside on health grounds. That changed on Sunday's episode, when she made her way in, right on the heels of Manju's eviction.
Colors Kannada built the moment up on social media with a promo captioned around a Navratri surprise for the house, an "innocent" gift for the festival. Host Kichcha Sudeep framed it similarly on the show, saying the new entrant was meant to bring some positivity into the house ahead of Dasara.
Kumari had already won over a section of the audience during her Agni Pariksha run, largely for coming across as Gilli's sibling in spirit, warm and unbothered. That goodwill seems to have carried into her house entry. Sudeep asked her, half in jest, what exactly she planned to do once inside. Her answer was blunt: if anyone turns on her or starts targeting her, she'll fight right back. Sudeep pushed further, asking her to demonstrate how she'd fight. She just laughed it off, and he let her off the hook with a line about how she'd manage fine, before wishing her well as she stepped into the house.
The timing of her entry, so close to Manju's exit, hasn't gone unnoticed by the audience. Reactions on social media have been split. A chunk of viewers have welcomed Kumari warmly. But there's also a vocal set still unhappy about Manju's eviction, with some insisting he shouldn't have been removed in the first place and rating him above housemates like Soundarya, Yashas, Sangeeta, Kiran Shastri and Tandavram. A few have gone further, accusing Kumari of leaning on sympathy to win the audience over even before she's properly settled in.
Whether that sympathy translates into staying power inside the house is the real test now. Bigg Boss houses have a way of flattening first impressions fast, and Kumari's own comments about fighting back suggest she isn't planning to play it quiet. The coming week's tasks, and how the existing contestants receive her, should tell us whether this Dasara entry sticks around or fizzles out the way some mid-season additions tend to.
